This suspended shop system was installed at Diddy’s after Covid to facilitate a quick and easy interchange between cafe, shop and bar in a constrained floor space;

Raising the shop frees up floor space for the cafe/bar in the evenings, while lowering it permits her to stay open as a cafe/shop during lockdowns/quieter times of day.

The two modular units, constructed by a lightweight steel frame, support wire baskets which make it easy to swap the shop display around as needed. A special pulley system was devised for each with a wall mounted worm gear winch which makes for easy lifting.

Maple arms of varying lengths provide a clatter-free ledge for the baskets to rest on. The design is inspired by domestic hoisted laundry racks with their loose timber slats allowing you to shift things around easily.
